A whole week of events, including a pizzas and puddings night, is being planned for a food and drink festival in in Mid Wales leading up to Easter.
Llandinam Food and Drink Festival, centred here at the Girlguiding Cymru headquarters at Broneirion will be held from March 30 to April 4.
The week begins with a children’s Easter activity day with a bread making workshop, butter making, chocolate, planting and hands-on cookery workshops on Monday.
A vintage tea dance with old fashioned high tea, music by Vintage Sounds and Décor and the opportunity for a house tour is planned for Tuesday, followed by a cheese making workshop with Artisan Country Crafts on Wednesday when you can learn how to make halloumi, mozzarella, goats cheese and mascarpone. Come for a half day and make two different cheeses or the whole day and make all four; lunch is included in the price for everyone. A pizzas and puds family night is being held at the Lion Hotel, Llandinam with leading Welsh chef Nick Davies on the Thursday from 7pm.
Highlight of the week is the Broneirion Food Fair and Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Saturday, which will welcome around 60 stalls in addition to demonstrations by chefs, workshops, lots of family activities and entertainment by the Tenovus Choir, buskers and local bands.
The family-friendly festival is designed to promote local food and drink products and their producers, whilst raising money for Girlguiding Cymru. Entrance is £3.50pp or £5.00 per couple while children under 16 years old are free. The event runs from 10.30am to 5.30pm
“The festival will provide a fantastic platform to promote the high quality local food and drink products that we have in Montgomeryshire,” said Mr Davies of the Lion Hotel, Llandinam. “I shall be helping to arrange a series of demonstrations and masterclasses by talented chefs during the week.”

Join us for a food themed activity day at Broneirion to start off our week of Food Festival events. Take part in a bread-making workshop, have a go at making your own butter, herb planting, "Get Cooking" with the W.I. and of course with Easter coming up we can't forget chocolate.
The day starts at 10.00am and finishes at 3.30pm.
Cost £19.00 per child, £15.00 siblings. Under 8's must be accompanied by a responsible adult - all parents are welcome to stay throughout the day. Packed lunches available to pre-order and light refreshments will be available to purchase.
For the 4th time we will be holding our Charity Easter Food Fair and Easter Egg Hunt at Broneirion. Visit the 150 year old house and grounds, sample and buy produce from across Wales and the borders. Purchase mouthwatering food & drink, select a beautiful plant as an Easter gift, or just spoil yourself. Bring the family along to take part in Easter activities and follow our Easter trail, with an Easter Egg as a prize for completing all challenges. Cookery demonstrations, workshops & family activities will also take place throughout the day. A programme of events will also be taking place throughout Easter week. Further details available soon.
